1.CUPL Profile

CUPL is hailed as the "top institution of legal education in China". It is one of "211 Project" key construction university with a focus and advantages in the field of law, as well as disciplines in political science, economics, management, literature, history, philosophy, education, science, and engineering. It is also a key construction university under the "‘985 Project’ Advantageous Discipline Innovation Platform", the "2011 Plan", and the "111 Plan" (University Discipline Innovation Introduction and Intensification Program). It is a national "Double First-Class" construction university, directly under the Ministry of Education and jointly constructed by the Ministry of Education and Beijing Municipality. The university is committed to building a world-class university and first-class disciplines. It adheres to an open educational approach and has extensive international exchanges and cooperation. It has established 3 overseas Confucius Institutes and currently has long-term friendly exchange and cooperation relations with 306 universities and educational institutions in 58 countries and regions.

2.Program Introduction

CUPL recruits Chinese language students from all over the world. Any international student, who is interested in Chinese, can come to find a Chinese language course suitable for you. The School of International Education of CUPL provides full-time Chinese language learning courses for international students, aiming to cultivate international students' Chinese language foundation and communication skills, and meet the needs of international students for further study and employment. Project includes beginning, elementary, intermediate and advanced Chinese language course, implement small-class teaching, flexible adjustment according to the international students' Chinese level teaching methods and learning content. At the end of the course, students will receive a certificate and a transcript.

Study Term

Fall semester: September 2025 to January 2026

Spring semester: March 2026 to July 2026

Course Hour

Teaching 18-22 hours per week and at least 18 weeks per semester.

3.Curriculum

The School of International Education of CUPL offers a wide range of Chinese language courses for international students, including: comprehensive Chinese, spoken Chinese, Listening Chinese, Reading and Writing Chinese, Overview of China, Audio-visual speaking, Basic Legal Chinese, Business Chinese,  and etc. Students can choose elective courses according to their interests, such as daily-life Chinese, traditional Chinese culture, calligraphy, HSK exam guidance, and etc. To help international students gain a deeper understanding of the history and culture of China and Beijing, the School of International Education arranges Chinese cultural exchange activities every semester.

4.Qualifications of Applicants

a.Non-Chinese citizens aged 18-55, who hold a foreign ordinary passport;

b.High school or above degree.

5.Application Documents

a.The completed "Application Form for Admission of China University of Political Science and Law" (the application form can be downloaded by clicking on the "Attachment（附件）" at the bottom of the brochure);

b.A photo copy of the first page of the passport (if the applicant is currently in Mainland China, a scanned copy of all relevant visa pages must be submitted at the same time)；

c.A scanned copy of the highest academic diploma/certificate and transcript (all the documents must be in Chinese or English). If the original documents are not in Chinese or English, a notarized Chinese or English translation shall be provided;

d.A scanned copy (Chinese/English version) of Foreigner Physical Examination Form and the relevant original report. It must stamp with the official seal of the hospital, and with the validity period of the physical examination being 6 months;

e.A recent certificate of no-criminal record issued by the government or a certificate of no-violation of discipline or regulations during school;

f.Personal statement and study plan（no less than 300 words）;

g.One one-inch electronic photo(white background).

7.Related Fees (Only Accept RMB)

a.Application fee: 400 Yuan/person;

Applicants need to pay the application fee by bank transfer. The application fee is non-refundable after being collected. Only RMB remittance is supported, foreign currency is not accepted. If the original remittance is returned due to foreign currency, the expenses incurred by the return shall be borne by the applicants.

b.Tuition fee: 8,000 Yuan/semester, 16,000 Yuan/academic year;

c.Accommodation fee: depends on the accommodation conditions;

d.Comprehensive medical insurance for international students: 400 Yuan/semester, 800 Yuan/academic year.

8.Admission Process

a.Review application materials;

b.Approval for the materials of students to arrange interview; 

c.Depends on the application materials and the result of interviewing, a comprehensive evaluation on merit.

9.Registration

International students are required to register at the School of International Education on the designated date with the Admission Letter, passport, and other related documents.
