About us

China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) is a key university under the direct supervision of the State Ministry of Education (MOE). CUPL is well known for legal academics and also enjoys a distinguished reputation in arts, history, philosophy, economics, management, and education. science and engineering. At the present, CUPL is committed to build a world-class university and first-class disciplines-a government plan to develop a group of elite universities and disciplines and boost China’s higher education power. Over the past 60 years, CUPL has educated and trained more than 200,000 graduates, and has played an active role in key legislative efforts in China. CUPL has assumed a leadership role in China in the development and innovation of legal education, legal theory and legal thoughts, and has played a key role in representing the country in international academic exchanges.

The university collaborates with 235 distinguished universities and institutions in 50 countries and regions. Each year, hundreds of faculty and students travel abroad for international exchanges and studies. The China-EU School of Law (CESL), founded in 2008, is the most comprehensive Sino-EU joint program in the field of legal education and research. Since 2009, CUPL has developed full strategy for internationalization to consistently enhance its school-running. Since 2012, CUPL has established 3 Confucius Institutes in the UK, Romania and Barbados.

CUPL continues to develop its international reputation - striving for excellence in innovation, multiple disciplines, inclusive, and international reach.

Program Introduction

The Visiting Scholar Program of the School of International Education at CUPL was launched in the year 2012, the program is designed for prosecutors, judges, lawyers, civil servants as well as teachers and scholars studying law in universities and colleges from all over the world. We provide different types and levels of Chinese language and legal courses for visiting scholars. The Chinese language courses include listening, speaking, reading, comprehensive Chinese and legal Chinese, all of which are lectured by teachers with the Certificate of Accreditation in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. The legal courses, including Chinese criminal law, civil law, criminal procedure law, civil procedural law and so on, are specially designed for visiting scholars and lectured by professors in our university. The languages of instruction include Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, etc.

The counsellors will also help scholars in the study, work and life. Besides, our school often organizes visiting scholars to participate in relevant academic exchanges and seminars to help study and know China's legal system, audit legal courses, make the acquaintance of legal scholars and practitioners from all around the world and broaden the international horizon. We also encourage visiting scholars to deliver lectures for students in our university, introducing domestic law and characteristics, strengthening academic and cultural communication in legal science.

To enrich after school life, our school organize a variety of extracurricular activities, including experiencing traditional Chinese culture like tea art, Tai Chi, calligraphy, etc.

Up to now, more than 200 specialists from Korea and Japan have been visiting scholars at the School of International Education of CUPL. All those interested from any country are welcomed to our school as visiting scholars, enjoying the best legal education in China and extensiveness and profoundness of Chinese culture.

Fees

Application fee: 660 RMB; tuition fee: 33,000 RMB/year and 16,500 RMB/semester.

2. One photocopy of your valid passport including the passport number page.
