On September 17, 2025, Kuang Guodong, Deputy Secretary-General of the All China Lawyers Association and Secretary-General of the Belt and Road International Legal Services Association, led a delegation to the School of International Education. Professor Zhang Wei, Dean of the School of International Education and Director of the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Education Center, attended the meeting on behalf of the school. Also present was Wu Chen, Director of the Corporate Law Professional Committee of the All China Lawyers Association (ACLA) and Managing Partner of Chenzhang Law Firm.
Professor Zhang Wei extended a warm welcome to Kuang Guodong and his delegation, providing a detailed introduction to the school and center’s development history, educational features, and the significant achievements in cultivating international students, students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, as well as in international cooperation. He emphasized that China University of Political Science and Law has always been committed to cultivating outstanding legal talents with both international perspectives and Chinese wisdom. He expressed his expectation to further deepen cooperation with the All China Lawyers Association and the Belt and Road International Legal Services Association.
Kuang Guodong introduced the basic overview of the Belt and Road International Legal Services Association. As the first international professional organization in China’s legal field named after the "Belt and Road" initiative, the association comprises industry associations, legal institutions, and individuals from countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, including lawyers, arbitration, and commercial mediation professionals. It aims to provide high-quality legal services for economic, trade, and cultural exchanges among Belt and Road partner countries. The association hopes to collaborate with the university in areas such as cultivating foreign-related legal talents and researching development strategies for the foreign-related legal services industry.
During the meeting, both parties reached preliminary consensus on several specific cooperation intentions. These include jointly establishing internship and practice bases with association members, collaborating on short-term training or summer program projects, co-developing a "on-campus learning and off-campus practice" training model, and jointly promoting cooperation between China and Belt and Road partner countries, such as Central Asian nations, in the field of legal services. Both sides expressed their commitment to promptly implementing the outcomes of the meeting by formulating detailed cooperation plans. They aim to collectively provide solid legal talents support for serving the Belt and Road Initiative and building a community with a shared future for mankind.
Also present at the meeting were Geng Yuan, Director of the Exchange and Cooperation Department of the Belt and Road International Legal Services Association,Li Zijia from the association, Liu Yifei from the association secretariat, Wang Fuping, Vice Dean of the School of International Education,and Deng Yicong, Director of the International Cooperation Department of the School of International Education.
